HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS

We concentrated on representation of gender and focused on teenage women in the horror genre.

This group are often portrayed as weak and vulnerable, for example in the conjuring and Annabelle the young women are represented as typical screamish girls, who are naive. We done seem them standing for there own ground and a lot of the defeated by whatever monster or Gaul that is harassing them.  In our film we wanted to show a true representation of how British teenagers live, for example, we set the film in a typical teenage girls bedroom, to escape from the typical stereotype of an all pink floral room filled with pop corn and cushions. We used a more realistic set of how you would expect an everyday normal teenager to live. By doing this we are giving the audience more a realistic view on the story line.
The characters again also follow the same representative of  not your average stereotype. We have normal everyday girls who are not well know Hollywood actresses and models to make are target audience of teenage girls feel more comfortable and feel like they can relate more to the actors. make up also had a great impact their was no heavy stage make up we made it natural as possible this also made the girls have a vulnerable look to them. costume we told our actors to bring their own wear of clothes so they were comfortable and audience can see the clear personalities of the characters. We told them to wear comfy clothes as any other teenager would do at a sleepover instead of clingy revealing clothes that you would expect of Hollywood productions.  These thoughts were all took in place, so we could represent the style of British realism actuality not some american stereotype of a screaming girl. This american type has as negative connotations and audiences may be damaged by this or associate these traits with young women. we tried a more positive effect so the young women can connect to the characters and feel more involved in the movie instead of having them sit back and watch a false character with no real intentions. I feel this will give women around Britain a motive to watch our movie Arrebella and see the side we want to represent which a powerful women

How did we attract our target audience ?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

by looking back at my recent posts about PHYSCO GRAPHICS; We belive that struggles would be a good target audience for our horror movie as they seek escape and are alienated. This makes them a good candidate for ou horror as they can enjoy a film that can be creepy or jumpy, they spend their free time eating junk food and naturally relaxing they fall perfectly within the teenage age group we would like to aim our movie at.

compare

from conducting our research we discovered that A horror films target audience is generally those in age group 15-25. This is because during the developing stages of their lives they want to experiment with emotion and try new experiences.  We found that the male gender was uually the target for most films as they are more encourging of death and violence while girls may be screamish. However we are aiming ours more at women as both our pataginist and main character are women, this gives our female viewers a chance to relate an hopefully

to further my research I went on ton audience profile site to test my theory, on profiling audiences. I choose an existing horror movie product, that was similar to my own. For this I choose the conjuring, the results revealed that gender was a female, I think this is reliable to my own product as we figured the audience would be more female urinated due to the feminism aspects such as girly sleepovers ect. Although I do disagree with the age limit for ou own female as I think it would be aimed more at a younger generation of teenagers, rather then more mature adults. I would suggest the conjuring includes the last girl theory which refers the concept of the last girl surviving confronting the killer and survive. |Like the conjuring we include this on our film. The results show that our target usidence would originate from the northen areas, I found information like there lifestyle and food was

what have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing product?

Digital skills.

PREMIER PRO

Through the prelim tast and our horror task I was able to develop my skills and understanding of premier pro, beforehand I had little knowlage and knew only the basics. However now I have wider range of skill when it comes to editing. I have learned more advanced editing such as creating soundbriges, which at first were challenging but with pratice I was able to get my head around it. By applying these sound briges we was able to make more of a flowing professional production.

I was introduced to editing skills such as layering, cutting, rendering, work flo, audio and many more. I know feel I am able to edit conforidently and have full understanding and control over the basics of the tools. I learnt most of my understanding from watching youtube tutorials or expreinced people in the industry. AT firt I found it quiet difficult to use the mac laptops as I am used to using a pc/laptop, so I came into the editing quiet niave, both me and my partner gained skill from praticing and watching more exspreinced mac users.

AFTER EFFECTS

before the media course I had never used after effects before, so again I was niave and hesitant when it came to editing our logo. However me and my partner watched

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?

PRELIM TASK

The 180 degree rule is essential in keeping the viewer focused and avoiding confusion. once a scene has been recognized, the camera must stay on one side of the action.

If two people are facing each other, a line must be drawn. This line usually runs straight down the middle between the two people, like so: Once this line is in place, the camera can move anywhere providing it stays on the same side of the line once filming has begun. If the camera is switching between two faces during a conversation for example and then suddenly cuts to the other side of the line, then it will appear that both people are facing the same direction instead of looking at each other. Match on action is a very simple but essential technique, where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene and the scene continues to flow. A good example of 'Match on action' is between 2 and 3 seconds. As you can see, the perspective changes while the scene still flows without any disruption.
Eye Line match is where a shot is taken off a person looking at someone and in the next the other character is looking back at the first character. The eye line is match is very important as if it doesn't look like the two characters are looking at each other it will seem less realistic and make the audience feel like the film/video is of a low quality and once again distort the continuity of the video.
It relates to shot reverse shot and the 180° rule as if those aren't used properly then the eye line match can not be taken out correctly as the characters will be looking in opposite directions.

When creating our own work, we tried to include the the following rules to make our own more successful. We incorporated the match on action angle when the actor would hand over the detonator to the other subject. i think the helped the scene flow, from this different environment. we performed this smoothly which worked to our advantage as we had less glitches and looked slightly more professional.

in the terms of filming we found it quiet easy to follow the story board as we had two enthusiastic actor who corporated smoothly with us making the process easier, however i found it hard to deal with the general public as they created noise population, so we had to move location and film in a quieter destination. we did also notice that when following the storyboard we missed off some camera angles, in order to improve next time we should double check the story board to confirm our actions.

this process has educated me alot about ususingdobe premire pro, i only had a little knowledge beforehand by watching tutorials. However with hands on hands action it was much easier to get to know the different tools and how to use them effectively i preferred this approach as it was much easier learning while editing. I definatly feel more confident for the future when it comes to editing our own creations .
