Coursework feedback

Research and Planning  -15
Planning and research is complete to a proficient standard. The research into similar products is proficient, although Ashleigh does sometimes struggle to express herself; she has clearly understood the task. The work into potential target audiences does cover some interesting areas of demographics, although I would have liked to see more application of the demographics to her own work. There is excellent organisation of actors, costumes, props etc, as well as shot lists, scripting and storyboards. I would have liked to see more work on locations and costumes though. Overall this is a blog that borders on excellent and a good level of care has been taken with presentation.
Main Task – 39
The material is appropriate for the target audience, and is clearly a proficient film opening in its narrative, style and dialogue. The titles follow conventions, and the red font is particularly fitting for the horror genre. There is some interesting sound edits, including cutaway’s with sound running underneath. Occasionally this isn’t so successful, but on the whole it is. There are a variety of shot distances and on the whole the framing is thoughtful. Editing helps with meaning on the whole, but there are one or two continuity issues, like when the group move from the bed to the floor too quickly.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real

The first shot we see is the advertisement of our company name, we display the company name to illustrate who produced the product. we initially made this this in after effects. To challenge our editing skills and produce a more sophisticated product. We titled our product ' parnamormal productions' as its adds to our horror connevitions. And gives an insight to what the movie will be based around.

Our secound shot includes an out of focus enviroment. This helps create a disillusion effect and gives a scene of mystery to the viewer. We also have included music behind this title shot that helps portray that the environments in a dream like state. It can cause a confusion to our audience which initially will make them more intrigued. We used a font that was more outdated as our film is orientated around a young Victoria child, and therefore we used this font to comply with the theme. The bold red is striking and connotes theme of evil and danger, and is also a convention of the horror.

The close up shop we used for this paticular sence, is a way of letting our audience know the generation and time period we was filming in. Our set up is of  typical teenage sleepover, we included connventions such as poopcorn and junk food to give away that fact. The audience know we filmed in the modern day era as we include modern products such as walkers crisps and popcorn.

we used a low angle middle shot to adda variety to our work, instead of having a ordinary middle shot we show to illustrate the status symbol between the character. Effy our main character, with a bossy personality traits is positioned higher, and in the foreground composition. Therefore showing her status within the story

This close up shot is a way of highlighting the emotion portrayed in this scene by using a close up we are adding tension and suspense. The audience can feel more involved as we are making the shot more intimate. By addng a variey os we we buliding up sequences that look appealing

the candle is important within our film as its a main convention of horror, the candle could be portrayed as a main symbol, that signifies the idea of rituals and conspiersys such as arrebella
